Epic Snow Camp: Finding and Photographing Winter Bliss in the Sierra National Forest

A lot of snow fell in California this year. We'd been planning to start hiking for months and each weekend got pushed because of snow. So, we loaded up the snowshoes and headed out to make the most of it. With recommendations from rangers in the Sierra National Forest, we ended up on a beautiful trail winding through the woods and culminating at the perfect opening to build out little campsite. The sky put on an epic display, we built a fire-pit and couch in the snow, and we had an absolute blast. Just a few hundred feet below it was sunny, warm, and there wasn’t a drop of snow.
