Biking the California Coastal Trail through Half Moon Bay

Marina in Half Moon Bay California.jpg

Half Moon Bay is just a hop skip and a jump from Palo Alto. It’s home to the Half Moon Bay Coastside Trail, a section of the California Coastal Trail. While still a work in progress, the California Coastal Trail will eventually run the entire length of California from Oregon to Mexico.

Half Moon Bay’s Coastside Trail section offers a 7 mile bike path running directly along the shores of the Pacific Ocean. Offering stunning views of the coast, incredible nature watching, and access to beautiful beaches, this trail is a truly wonderful ride.

Starting at Pillar Point Harbor and heading south, we enjoyed a beautiful leisurely bike ride watching as the marine layer danced off shore before finally giving in to storm clouds as we returned to the parking lot.
