Sunset on the Blue Ridge Parkway
Way back in June, I visited my friend Kathy at her home in the North Carolina mountains. Our friend Nadeen flew in from the west coast and we packed our schedule full of shoots. We began with sunset on the Blue Ridge Parkway near the Craggy Gardens overlook. Clouds were hanging pretty low in the sky and we weren't sure what we'd get, but we decided to wait and see.
As we waited, the clouds began to lift, making the blooming rhododendrons glow in the golden light.
I had recently purchased a wide angle lens and was excited to give it a try. But, I was thrilled when I found that it creates the most beautiful circular lens flare.
As the sun dipped lower, the colors turned from golden to red and I swapped the wide angle for the telephoto. Sunset happens quickly in the mountains and I sure am glad we stuck around for this one.
