Sunset at The Point | Cape Hatteras Photography

A few weeks ago, we learned that the sun was just the right angle to set over the water at Cape Point on Cape Hatteras National Seashore in North Carolina's Outer Banks. We loaded up the truck with happy hour provisions and joined the hundreds of spring fisherman at this tiny spit of land. The wind was howling, the fish were biting, and the sun put on quite a show for all of her onlookers. I think every single person on the beach stopped in their tracks to watch as the sun set across the island. ⠀ Because I wanted to emphasize the sunset behind the waves, I used the Sony a9 + Sony 100-400 mm f/4.5-5.6 to really accentuate the size of the setting sun.⠀
