A Warm Day in Winter Calls for a Visit to the Beach

We always get a day or two in winter when the temperatures warm and we find ourselves pulled outside.  On a warm winter day in January, I stopped by the beach for a few moments of solace and the peace of feeling my toes in the sand.  The surfers were out enjoying the small clean waves and the birds were gathered in flocks, squawking loudly while Hobie Cats sat waiting patiently for spring.  It was a day full of promise, reminding us that winter doesn't last forever and before we know it, we'll be complaining about the heat and humidity.  But until then, I'll hold this day in my memory and let it warm me from the inside out.
