The Charm of Lake of the Woods Resort
Over Thanksgiving, we spent an incredible weekend in southern Oregon because somehow they had more snow than we had up north. With the plan falling in to place at the last minute and the off the grid location, our lodging options were limited. I stumbled upon the website for Lake of the Woods Resort and learned that they had private cabins with full kitchens and had one remaining. I immediately booked it without any further research and no expectations other than a warm bed, a place to heat up some soup, and a bonus outdoor fire pit.
When we arrived at Lake the Woods after a day of snowshoeing, it was too dark to see much about our surroundings. We made our way to our cabin and were simply wowed when we turned on the lights. Not only did we have a warm bed and a stove, the cabin was fully outfitted with all of the comforts of a home, including a huge garden style soaking tub and a gas fireplace.
I set my alarm for sunrise the next morning, eager to check out the view of the lake. It was truly breathtaking to see a bluebird clear sky and the surrounding peaks dusted with snow.
