A Sunrise Photography Lesson at the Virginia Beach Fishing Pier

When a mentoring client reached out about coming to town for a sunrise photography lesson, I knew we had to start at the Virginia Beach Fishing Pier.  We met just before dawn, in the biting wind and newly cold temperatures.  We worked together to create her vision for the morning, talking through settings, composition, white balance, etc.  I typically don't shoot during lessons, but the sun was rising so perfectly through the pier that once we got her set up and ready to go, I grabbed a quick shot just to record the memory.  The future of the pier is in jeopardy, with rumors swirling that it will be torn down and replaced with a concrete pier complete with an amusement park.   Until then, I'll be sure to capture the pier as often as possible to memorialize it forever.
