A Photographer’s Trip to Amelia Island, Florida
In February, I traveled to Amelia Island, FL to attend Click Away, a fun filled weekend photography conference. One of my favorite parts of the weekend is getting to gather with so many of my long distance friends to do what we love... spend time together chatting, shooting, and laughing. Each day was filled with something new and offered incredible photo ops and moments to share. It’s a special time when you come away with good friends, good photographs, and a heart full of memories.
We spent a morning photographing sunrise at the Amelia Island Fishing Pier. Fog was thick during most of the mornings we were there, but on this morning it managed to thin enough to get some beautiful shots at the pier.
Sunsets were spent at Walker's Landing, a beautiful spot on the grounds of the Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort. The sunset views were incredible, but the bugs were wicked.
The conference always has a great vendor room and I was able to borrow the Lensbaby Velvet 56 to try it before I bought it. The lens gives the edges of the photograph a slight blur to draw focus into the center of the photo.
Jessica of The Gaggle Photography is an incredible wildlife photographer and she arranged for us to join the Great American Bird Count for the day with the nature center at the Omni. We spent the morning on a wildlife tour, helping count the incredible northern Florida bird population.
The 2018 Click Away was an incredible experience much like the conferences in Seattle and San Antonio. Fingers crossed that we'll find out soon about the 2019 event!
