Pastel Sunrise at the Avon Pier | Hatteras Island Photography
I'll be honest.... summer sunrises aren't my favorite. The sunrise is so early in the summer that it's a little more painful to drag yourself out of bed. Top that with heat, humidity, and haze and you've got duller skies that are either completely devoid of clouds or completely covered in haze. But, not this sunrise. This sunrise proved me wrong. This sunrise got me out of bed early on the days that followed. This sunrise was perfection. It was a quiet morning on the beach, the vacationers had chosen to sleep in, I suppose. The sky started out pretty colorless, the sun hidden by a low layer of clouds. But, as the sun began to rise and my coffee began to kick in, the colors seemed to awake as well. The first thing that I noticed was the high part of the sky began to turn blue. Next came a slight yellow color, making the low clouds glow ever so slightly. Finally came the pink, like the icing on a princess cake. Mother Nature painted the perfect canvas to contradict a summer sunrise skeptic like me. Lesson learned, Mamma Nature, lesson learned.
