Our Month in Ecuador- Climbing Quito's Vulcan Pichincha

When we learned that there was a 15,400 foot volcano just outside of Ecuador’s capital city, we knew we had to climb it. An added bonus was the cable car that took us from the city up over 13,000 feet, giving us an incredible jump start on the elevation. On a beautiful Sunday morning, we set off to summit the Rucu Peak side of Pichincha, aiming for our highest summit yet.

The weather was incredibly cooperative and the trails were filled with happy hikers. Many wandered along, simply enjoying the day and the expansive views of the city below, while others pushed forward, their goal the same as ours.
