Leaning in to Letting Go

Winter Night Sky, Mazama, WA January 2025

As I spent time evaluating my 2024 collection of images, I noticed a theme in my digital files- Safe. Expected. It might not be a stretch to say boring…. With this revelation in mind, I set the goal to return to a mindset of risk taking. I’ll be spending 2025 letting go of attachment to outcome, pressing the shutter to see what happens, and taking the photos that might not turn out.

As we pulled into the driveway of our cabin, I noticed a faint dusting in the sky. I pulled out Photo Pills and using night AR, I could see that just a smidge of the Milky Way was visible. With my husband‘s prompting (and willingness to make dinner 🤣) I got out my tripod and heated gloves to set up a shot of the night sky. Ultimately, I struggled to balance the cabin lights with the dark shadows. But, I took the risk. I tried. And I’m glad I did.

Thank you for joining me In Search of Wonder. Until next time. If you enjoyed this post, please share it.
